Digging cliffs in w16?

Postby banok » Mon Nov 04, 2024 9:02 pm

I saw a video here when I googled of just simply digging the cliff edge, and wiki says if you place land survery across in will level, but neither of these seem to currently work in the game. is there any way to dig/remove/flatten cliff in w16?

You can , I just did.
I dont remember the efficient way tho and just brute forced it by surveying a large area , it fill the space.
You're supposed to be able to remove it with a tiny survey tho , I just couldnt be arsed to remember how thos world.

Well it wont let me dig at all in tiles near cliff edge, and when I out survey across it all the soil just went into my inventory not onto the over side.

I'm not sure how surveying works with ridges, if it does at all, but you can also just drop a bunch of soil on them to raise the terrain level. Hug the face of a ridge and dump soil, wait a bit for it to decay, continue until the elevation rises to a point where it removes the ridge. You might be able to level them a bit more easily after doing that without needing to drop soil along the entirety of a ridge but I'm not certain about that.

do you need to stare at the soil for this to happen if i wonder off will it just despawn?

edit: cause i did dump some already to see what would happen and aparently nothing but maybe because i didnt wait around or maybe too little.

If the area unloads it might not work but it doesn't really take that long for soil to decay it's like 5-10 minutes. Depending on the height of the ridge it may require quite a bit of soil before the elevation gets high enough to remove it.

surveying will do that for you.
It transfer the dirt you dig onto the area it's supposed to raise the area.

IIRC the easiest way to remove a cliff was to ctrl-shift-right-click with soil on the tile adjacent to its base.
