other than forager it not really necessary
also there is no fun

Some Credos are quite essential for certain professions as they add unique bonuses, mainly percentage bonuses on some things, if you want to maximize what nature provides, then Credos like Forager or Potter are good.
Forager raises 20% quality to all things you find with a chance to double them, to start with good quality crops, or to raise string quality to a decent level it's useful. Doubling pickups also lowers the frequency you need to restock on foragables by a bit.
Potter raises clay quality by 10-25%, which in turn raise the quality of anything you produce with your kiln or potters wheel.
Quarryman will aid you a lot to start out mining, raising your strength and masonry.
Later credos can be quite nice like Nomad, raising your inventory capacity, or Scholar raising the amount of LP you gain by a small percentage.
I'd recommend to wait a bit to raise your perception and exploration to somewhat decent levels though, with Forager credo, you gain +10 stats each while progressing the credo, making the points after that a bit more expensive. (Basically maximize your exploration so that each free point is as "valuable" as possible).
You also should have a Perception X Exploration baseline so you can see most of the forageables the Credo quests may task you to find, otherwise you might have to abandon quests which resets part of your progression.
30*30 PER x EXP would likely suffice for the most part for a discovery value of ~900
Better 40*40 and ~1600 disc, with the 10 free points it'd raise to 50*50 and 2500 discovery, where you can see a very large portion of the foregables in the game. The skill points at that point are so expensive, you probably will not want to touch them after that (5000+ LP per Level of Exploration by then), and with the PERC stat naturally increasing through food you might never raise exploration again.
If you don't want to min-max most Credos aren't really needed, but they generally add a lot of fun and allow you to personalize and specialize your character.
If you like hunting, Hunter (doubles meat from game) and Strider (chance for additional hide)
Tailors have a significant chance to create better equipment.
Gardener allows you to plant a rarer selection of herbs.
Cook improves all the food you make by a bit.
Each Credo you complete raises the quests you need by to complete by 2 per Level, or 10 total. (may have been changed sometime to just +1 quest, idk)
First Credo 10 total quests.
Second 20 total.
Third 30 total.
...
Eventually it becomes an extreme time investment to progress further and can be one of your "endgame" goals to reach some of the higher tier Credos.
