Help with Milestones

Postby Kinglazy » Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:33 pm

I set 2 stone milestones with 5 paths total. Later I found that building the 2nd Milestone blocked one of my paths.
Is there a way to have the Main milestone forget a path so I can reroute it? Or must I destroy both Main milestones?

Also, when I connect to an exsisting small milestone, the travel option from the main stone doesn't take me to the entire path, but only to the small stone I made connection with. Am I doing something wrong or is there no way to connect to the full path?

You have to destroy the milestone that connects to your main hub that has the path you want to forget.

The full path should work, but you need to use the connection from both sides onto the same milestone.

Keep in mind destroying a milestone extension that is not an end point/disconnected from the trail requires a fair amount of strength, more than you probably have at the moment even when using a pickaxe to do it.

If your road is not taking you to where you expect it should, then there is a problem with the road. Either you have not completed the connection or the route is blocked at some point. So long as there is a full connection from Point A to Point B you can travel the entire distance even if there are blockages, you would simply have to continue at the next unblocked milestone in the path in that case. That's what the "waylaid" buff is, you get it when you travel on a road that does not reach its end point and it allows you to continue travelling on that same trail from any of the existing connection points.

To be honest though it sounds like your roads are messy and the simplest option may be to bash the 2nd main milestone you built and rebuild it so that it's not blocking anything, then reconnect the trails. Roads don't disappear once they are built unless the entire trail is destroyed, you can always reconnect them using existing trail milestones.

I find it helps to follow along the path with the walking option rather than fast travel, you can get a better idea of where the road may be running into issues like if your player bumps into anything along the way or if they simply stop because the route is disconnected at some point.

Any Trail-post (wood or stone) where a trail ends will have no soak.
That's not to say a wrecking ball is not your best option.

... Trails only exist by the grace of two connected trail-posts ...

This saved me lol

Destroying the hub stone allowed me to destroy the small stone
