Mine Hole Collapse

I have a Mine Hole into a level 1 cavern with no other entrances. On the surface, it is in a claim and inside a palisade, but not below. When I logged in this morning, the hole was gone. Is it a bug, or did something else happen? There are no scents on the surface to indicate another hearthling destroyed it, and as I understand, it cannot be destroyed from the ladder side. What happened, and do I have any recourse except to dig another hole?

Most likely your minehole has been bashed by someone with enough stealth*intelligence compared to your exploration*perception that you can't see his/her/its scents. Both ends of minehole should always be claimed and palisaded, no matter what.

On wich planet you can fill a mine hole by smashing it ?
This is an heresy, ask the raiders to fill it with 500 soils or stones instead.

The pali above was not smashed, and the cavern below has no other entrances. There is only one tunnel 100+ tiles away that someone could mine from, but why would they? It's just level 1, tin and lead. I guess I can't rule it out, but it seems unlikely.

Doubtful. I've seen unclaimed mineholes last so long that I'm not sure if they decay at all. No reason for one on an ACTIVE claim to be decaying, whether or not the ladder is claimed underground only matters for security.

No walls underground means someone went up and smashed it.
