Different results, it's tied to the well itself. The meta for making super high Q wells without exploits is to bash/remake/re-dig until you get the max roll. I'd guess you probably want to max roll twice even before going further if you have realm resources for XP.

i dont have a realm i was just trying to get a +9 well. but i have tried a few times and seem to always get +5 or +6. and i was wondering if the +5 was always on the same square and the +6 was always on the same square. i didn't keep a good record so im not sure which tile i placed it on...

I have replaced a well after rolling +5 and managed to roll max at +10 after. This was 2 worlds ago. All the data points I personally have verified. Anything other than +5 tends to be somewhat rare.
