Advice on anti-siege preparations.

Postby Ganjastyle » Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:50 pm

Lately i see alot of activity, where ppl i know get rekt by the same scheme: you log in and find out that there is a palisade not too farm from yours, and 5-6 ppl actively building catapults inside of it. That didnt happen to me yet, but i could imagine seeing this stuff near my base.
Now, imagine my objective is to make this forthcoming siege as time-consuming as possible for the dudes outside. From what i've read here on forum, the good idea is to stack materials for archery towers in advance. So i got few questions about this:
1) How many arrows do i need to "feed" 1 tower?
2) How does archery tower range compare to catapult's range? Will archery tower be able to hit a catapult from behind a palicade (if built as close to it as possible)?
3) Will the catapult hit the archery tower? If tower trades with catapult, who wins?
4) If catapult wins, and the tower becomes rumbled, does it mean im fcked? Since brodgar wiki says, that the construction of another tower will be blocked for 24h irl..

Also, any other advice on what i can do to prolong the siege and make siege-bois think "the fuk am i doing with my life, spending days on this nematode sprucecap.." while they slowly advance to loot my stashes of 40q leather and cloth?

I've heard you only do that, if you want to rat out your village, which in my case would be ratting out myself. Which would make me question my sanity. Which is already questionable since im playing H&H.

You are completely fucked and got, at most, 24hrs to pack your shit and move. There is no counter. Archery towers, wrecking balls and rams might as well not exist because they're completely useless.

Your best bet is to watch out for https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Thing_Challenge and gather all the neighbors in the province to try and destroy it.

I swear this game hates having active playerbase.

walled buffer zone
alt vaults
alt base
hide cool stuff deep ungerground and have top level look like first time gamer

All of this is a bit much to do but since people like mightysheep and snail exist you might have to if you want to keep playing late in the world.

You can destroy a catapult or ram by pressing adventure -> destroy on it and waiting 5 minutes.

Siege mechanics can vary depending on your geographical conditions, so my advice may not perfectly apply to your situation.

1. You can click on the Archery Tower to load arrows, and the amount required will be displayed. Once loaded, it will fire automatically at intervals, which are also shown by a timer. Archery Towers automatically degrade after about 60 hours of real-world time, not 24 hours.
2. The range of an Archery Tower is shorter than that of a Catapult.
3. Yes, a Catapult can target and destroy an Archery Tower. Once destroyed, you won’t be able to build another Archery Tower in the immediate vicinity.
4. This depends on your situation. If you have multiple layers of walls, they might also bring a Battering Ram.
Honestly, relying solely on Archery Towers isn’t ideal. Instead, I’d recommend creating alts and training them to reach the necessary STR levels for defense and counter-sieges.
If your base is near water, it’s essentially game over in a siege scenario because attackers can easily bypass many defensive measures.

Here’s what you can do...
Build a Palisaded Base on an Isolated Island
Create a base on an island that is difficult to access.
Make an alt based on that island and use it to travel via boats to your main village.
In the event of a siege, tie up your livestock with a rope and use FT to move them to a safer location.

Thanks alot, i probably should indeed make a safe place to move animals, since they are painful to tame again.

Call your friends, feed STR to some naked alts and bash the catapults.
