Crossing the ocean without a Snekkja/Knarr

Is it possible? How quickly does, say, a rowing boat gets destroyed on the high seas? I've had one experience with it and that's when oceans were first implemented, I moved into the high sea area on a rowing boat for 1-2 seconds and the boat was instantly destroyed. I haven't tried it since so I don't know if that was a case of being unlucky and having that tick of damage come so soon or if that is literally the norm.

If that was just a case of being unlucky and you can sail out a fair bit before it getting destroyed, maybe it's possible to do something like having 2 throwaway alts in a rowboat, holding rowboats of their own, each with 2 dugouts in said rowboats, so in theory you can sail across, boat gets destroyed, jump into one of the 2 rowboats that drops, get the alts in, have one pick up the other rowboat and the other grabbing the dugout from the cargo as you continue sailing through.

....Is that too impractical? Particularly when you have to guess which area of ocean has the shortest distance to cross. Seems pretty impractical but like I said I don't know how quickly on average rowboats get destroyed. If they can last a few minutes each it might be possible.

use this map to detect your location and closest "Swirling Vortex"
https://map.hearthworld.com

enter vortex with a fully repaired vehicle, explore enough to detect your new location, repeat if you dont like the location

I appreciate the vortex advice, but I already know about them, bro. I went through all the vortex's at the start of this world (and the previous one actually) but none of them lead to the hidden continents. Somebody then informed me that vortex's won't link up to other ones until a player has actually entered that vortex which is what links them to all the other ones. So, because nobody could get to the other continents in the first week of the world, none of the vortex's would spit you out over there.
That's actually the exact reason why I'm asking how feasible it is to cross the ocean without a Snekkja/Knarr in anticipation for the next world.

In a dugout you will die
In a rowboat you will die
In a raft you will die
in a Snekkja you can traverse for the most part, just bring some tars sticks and a barrel or two of Tar
In a Knarr you can traverse all over. but again bring tar sticks and a barrel of tar

All vortex connections are rerolled once every two weeks or so. You should be able to access any of the continents by now.
