With the new world just few days away, I was wondering if the forum could provide some much needed tips to avoid noobish mistakes on day 1.
What are your go-to tactics for the very first day ingame?

Your goal is to put racks asap, after that just focus on gaining few stats. Getting 10 ua is good idea, so even if you get agroed several hours in, you can easily defend yourself.

Is a deep cave enought???? like people will be exploring to the end of every cave looking for High Q gems for tools. puting a HF inside and blocking the entrance with a PClaim to me is the only viable option. you have to get that setup then go find moles and get the leather ASAP for a palisade

How do I even catch moles without a horse? They just vanish![]()
Any other tips? Resources I should keep an eye out other than the usual curios and nettles?

Pretty sure they only vanish a few times then they give up and you can catch them.

If that will be doable, there's still a non-"absolute zero" amount of counter-play. Of course if you manage to pull that 'exploit' off before anyone else even enters the cave (and the cave only has one entrance OR you manage to pull the trick on all of them) you're almost perfectly safe.* But I've heard of case(s) where someone was able to sneak an alt into the cave before it was blocked off. By simply logging out in a suitable spot, they were able to later log back and wreak havoc in a mostly unclaimed cave. Probably hearthing out with an inventory full of valuables and a cart loaded with 6 tanning tubs close to finishing leather.
*Main threat vector becomes if someone can mine their way in, which will generally be hard with low STR and no mine supports. But depending on map generation, it can be easy or even trivial.
