Hey guys!

Just found this post and was gonna let ya know on the otherside of this video.
The villagers of the now raided and smashed "Peaceful Happy Fun Town" was me, Sara, Fredrik and Jack.
We had just finished everything needed for the brickwall as you might have seen.
Lots of our stuff that was just starting to get somewhere.

So yeah this was a real kick to the face that we were just used for a video to show how horses can break stuff.

But anyway, glad you got your point out and seemed to have fun Coles. :P

Myself Im not sure that I will go back to this game if this is what I have to look forward to in the future also.
And to answer some of you, yes we where subbed. Yes we payed for the game time since we enjoyed the game. Its only fair to the devs.

Best of luck to the rest of ya and we will see if I see you around.

/ Sara

Here ya have some pics of us playing if you want to see :)

I find this "should have had a brick wall" hilarious. While based on circumstances the current at end game veteran players know, yes of course. Based on the perspective of new players not yet at end game, well why should they know better?

A better question would be why does a game with an ostensibly perpetual world historically meant to last for a year plus allow everyone to be at end game mere weeks into the game? Why does a game ostensibly wanting to attract new players throughout said world make the power disparity between old and new players so extreme that new players can't even exist except at the largess of the old? Gods and ants, is that the intention?

Is the game supposed to boil down to "hope you don't get seen until you get a brick wall, then quit out of boredom"?

Hopefully palibashing will be removed once they change the siege system.

Brickwall is most easy to build. You can make around 1000 bricks a hour. With few hours of brickmaking you can get enough bricks for very nice sized place.
You can make all wroughts from one iron ochre vein. Just build 4-6 smelters next to it and smelt.
Steel is easy, I have made steel like 2-3 times with only palisade as protection and no one has palibashed in to take them.
You can also build steel crucibles hidden in cave far away from everything.
Basically brickwall is very easy to build if you put any effort to it at all. If you are too lazy to make bricks for 1-2 hours. Then HnH is not a game for you.
And what comes to steel crucible fueling. Fuel them when you wake up, when you come from work/school and at evening. You can do it during weekend if you have more time at that time.
Everyone has few minutes on their morning that they can use for steelmaking!

I have a big issue with this line here. Understand that this is not an attack on you, shubla (or anyone), but it has been a rather recurring line among the veterans, explicitly stating that you have to play this game while reading a walkthrough on how to be safe or you aren't suppose to play the game at all. This causes a supposely sandbox game to become extremely linear.

To emphasis the point, I will have to ask this, Is it feasible for lower level players to achieve all of that especially those that have not subbed? Here are a few things that may be a problem despite how simple it sounds.
- How would they know that palisade are bashable?
- How would they know how fast they need to go to build a brick wall?
- How will they find a proper node and metal production factory on time?
- How will they do any of this if some of them can't make a stone axe?

I'm not sure about you but if I was a player that was introduced to this game and got rolled over because I didn't know that I was to make a beeline to brickwall and learn how to defend it. I will quit if I am not one of those people that do not wish to read the equivalent of gamefaqs.com or if I was trying to get through to brickwall as fast as possible and suddenly a man and his horse decides that brickwall stockpiles are good race tracks despite my best effort to no-life even as a sub. Even after all is said and done, it may end up amounting to nothing if I get unlucky.

Also
It starts with one thing
I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away

It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on, but you didn't even know
I wasted it all just to watch you go
I kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me
Will eventually be a memory of a time when

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing, I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try,
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme,
To remind myself of a time when
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised it got so
Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me in the end
I kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There's only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There's only one thing you should know

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

Brickwall isn't easy, and not being subscribed makes it worse because you have to plan several weeks in advance if you want to dedicate your time to mine iron and make bricks - you'll have to stock food, stock curios, stock water. Finding an iron node is quite difficult too - I had a char picking walls like crazy over the world a while ago and never did he find any kind of iron ore. It should be even harder for someone without my strength and pickaxe quality.

I've also never made steel in this or the past worlds because I can't log on in such intervals. I got along by trading or subsidizing steel production to hermits, but neither is possible now.

I agree with that. The community expects new players to know things they can't possibly know, then we blame them for being "lazy". Here's an example of the problem:

Did you not have a claim to give them visitor debuff? If you track the option stolen items it will show you were your stuff is so you can steal it back

This was a reply posted in How Do I. If I were a new player I wouldn't have the slightest idea about what any of that means. What is a "claim"? Visitor debuff? Tracking?
How to even expect they know what a "palisade soak" is? Much less what a "palibasher" is, or that this is a thing?

I am the chef of Happy Friendly Fun Town. I was responsible to keep food one the table!

We had all the bricks and the steel, we had it all planned out and was gonna build the wall that same night we got raided. it was late though, and we had no idea how long the wall building would take.
I logged on late at night, like 03:00 to fill my curios and whatnot when I hear a "BEEP", it was the client warning that some strangers had been discovered.

We had only met friendly hearlings sofar and there where no signs of raiding in the area either, I guess someone had to be the first!
All that work, and we where even done with the hard part! 60stacks of bricks, didnt even know you could teleport using roadsigns until days after the event! I ran back and forth from the nearby river..

Found a screenshot, this is me talking with the farmer in the food storage cellar:
