OP was being reasonable, why not bargain for something in the long term. An ally/friend that lasts a few months is worth more than a node of iron.

If I caught someone stealing from say, my farmland, I'd offer them more seeds for free and let them know I'm open for trade or working together. Not that I would expect 95% of the Hafen demographic to understand this with your crippling social disorders.

This is something every raider learns when
they reach enlightenment. To raid one's
base is to get a single return on your time
which cannot be done as easily the second
time around if the opponent even chooses
to continue. To take everything from your
neighbors is to risk that resource drying up
for good. This raider made the mistake of
taking your goods that you were working
for too early, and then he proceeded to
have to work for more of that same good
that he could have let you taken care of.

Of course that means he would have had
to monitor and protect you from other
thieves in the meantime. Regardless the
proper method would have been to first
observe you and find whether or not you
were growing at a decent rate. If you had
shown signs that you were starting to near
a plateau, then he should allow you to dig
all the metal up, and then take it from you
when you're done, or nearly done. This
leads to max gains, but requires a great
deal more intelligence as well as proper
stalking.

If you were a very productive person that
never reached a plateau, the proper way
to handle you would be to offer you trades.
But most raiders lack the attention span to
properly handle their neighbors. The only
solution to an unintelligent thief is death.

Small price to pay for freedom, over the time he'd just been grinding grief skills to fuck my other stuff. See ya'll in a few months or so when I cba to play again, hope you enjoyed the tall tale.

I'm sorry to see that he killed you, the guy is clearly a douche. However, you not only provided some entertainment with this thread but you also gave some useful information I was not aware of:

It's good to know that this can happen.

Anyways, I don't think you should quit just because of one shitty raider this guy will get what is coming to him eventually. You should try to settle in a new area, not every player is like that. In fact I have come across many, many nice people while playing so far.

Yeah I will be back because most people I meet are cool enough, everytime I play this game and die I always go away but then always come back.

Like I said in another thread. Just because your a bad guy, doesn't mean you have to be a bad GUY.

I know H&H is a game where you can be an asshole and get away with it, but let me tell you from someone who's played "selfless community MMOs" like Final Fantast XI and XIV... I can tell you that game isn't any
different than this one. Most people who are evil always come off like the "good guy", i.e. their doing it to teach you a lesson, "toughen you up", because their doing it for (their) "greater good", to benefit their own
group, and so on. In other words, a lot of "team players" try to get to a high level position in a guild and use that position to abuse others, and as long as they have a "good reputation" in their clique, they can be as
abusive and nasty and be "when no one is around" asshat because they can. In other words they do it because they won't be punished.

OP, you have every right to be upset at what happened and I feel you were wronged. I can't do much about it but I can tell you if that happened in MY neighborhood I would be teabagging someone right now.

And this is in part why I've always argued against mechanics that empower the hardcore and weaken the casuals. Haven's raider economy is a vibrant, albeit bloody, part of the game. If casuals are pushed out too much, there'll be no one but intelligent paranoid players and effectively no one to raid. As nao put, wipe raids rarely benefit the raider in the long term unless the purpose is to intentionally depopulate the area.
Lucky: haven is so quirky
Lucky: can be so ugly, can be so heartwarming
