Like they have never stopped killing the 'poor and innocent'. Btw, you seem to side - hate/get disappointed - love them again - hate them again and so on for years now.

Well I do not support many of their actions, but most of them are nice guys I chat with every now and then. So that might explain the ambiguous relationship. The biggest problem I have with newbie killing is that the game could use every new player it can get and discouraging someone from sticking arround for no reason just tickles me the wrong way.

Also the first videos Coles posted here were quite entertaining. Most HnH videos are just too long with nothing happening in them to actually watch. So that was a nice change.

I kinda agree, taking the dark path this world has given a mixture of good and bad feels so far. I gaze at the skulls on my wall and ponder things like; Who was Anna? Did I make her quit the game? Why doesn't anyone seem to have 50 intelligence?

Really its JLo's fault for designing the game the way it is. I would genuinely prefer the game if there was actual penalties for criminal actions, or gameplay reasons to not kill at every opportunity. being a mass murderer should always be possible but ideally it should be extremely challenging way to play rather than completely consequence-less.

But most people in this community and JLo have always disagreed with me whenever I have voiced such opinions in the past. I got summoned and killed previously for tracking down and killing someone who stole from me, why I am not* entitled to justice? The game's design is intentionally lawless, where only might can be right.

There will always be people who play the game who just to pvp, and if everybody worth killing will not come out from impenetrable walls. Then everyone outside walls will be slaughtered. You can't expect these people to change their playstyle, the ruleset of the game would need to change.

TLDR; Don't hate the player, hate the game.

What really showed Ainran's class was when they started to walk plot to plot telling the newbs that they had killed a bear outside, and if they wanted it.

@Banok: That is a pretty easy way out for the player though ;) You always have the choice to just not do this.

But yeah you are right that mechanics encourage this and I would like to add that the longer the world goes on the harder it gets for new players to join. They are just fodder for those who "PvP" then with no chance of catching up. I am by no way encouraging no pvp zones or shit like that as I believe they cause more harm than they do good, but there have to be other mechanics to make the lives of the new players a little easier and give them the chance to catch up.

If Ainran just wanted to teach those newbies a lesson they could KO them for example and pants them. Sound familiar Nao? :P There is not really anything they gain for actually killing a spruce hat guy or gal.

I agree with you on a lot of points but the fact remain, people don't NEED to kill others to play, they do it out of their free will, their sick twisted free will. So yeah I think we can hate the players too.

i believe the noob you killed was my friend who had just started playing the game a couple days ago and was still learning.
he wasn't even a member of brodgar, he was just passing around befriending people. poor innocent him. his name was Yakov, wasn't it?
he even purchased a subcription the same day but now is just a little too pissed to start again.
thanks, jordan coles.

If you read the thread ainran did exactly that on route to raiding NB. But I guess sprucecaps inside NB are not being given the same courtesy, which isn't too surprising.

I don't NEED to level up my strength, but its beneficial. I don't NEED to kill others, but its beneficial. Semantics, lacking game design. Especially now that any random sprucecap could have a bluebell #fuckfate.

Not to justify this travesty, but sometimes I do wonder if such deaths are not for the best. better to die early and get a feel for what the game is about, than die after pouring hundreds of hours into a character, no? also peeps should always use their 48 hours before they sub or verify.
