Not at all.
This progressed in these simple steps:
1. Leafstab has childlike tantrum, switches password/steals plot.
2. Leafstab is contacted to return plot, and has a long conversation with the member we designated to lead communications with him. Communication is lengthy, and eventually settles with Leaf becoming unresponsive.
3. Village has an ad-hoc meeting, we jointly agree that Leafstab will be given the ultimatum that he must return the keys, and then he may decide to either stay in the village or leave it.
4. Leafstab is sent this message on skype.
5. Leafstab, two hours later, logs onto the miners guild key alt. He is again reissued the ultimatum, this time in game. He goes on a tirade/monologue and then ceases to talk.
6. The miners guild alt is slain, but it has only slave keys on it.
7. We decide we need to ram his plot to reclaim the keys, 30 minutes later we begin ramming his plot.
8. Leaf runs around inside his plot, and at this point is told that if he returns the keys he will be allowed to leave the city in peace.
9. Leaf begins to repair the palisade wall and refuses, taunting us by telling us that the ram will break before we get in.
10. It was decided that Leaf will be told to open his gate, return the keys, and he will be let live - Otherwise we will kill him.
11. Leaf refuses. We bash down his wall and kill him.
He was given multiple warnings, had ample time to comply - His continued refusal to comply showed his malice/intent that went beyond stealing the plot, so he was slain.
The only person that Leafstab can blame is himself, we did everything appropriate to ensure that he was fairly treated and forewarned of the ramification of his actions and gave him every chance to resolve it peacefully.
