You aren't supposed to take an horse into a cave to start with, though.

Why not? If you dig the cliff around the cave entrance down, you can walk a horse into the cave with no problem. Since the only thing preventing the horse from entering regular caves is the hitbox of the cliff hitting the hitbox of the horse.

Getting the horse in to the cave is not such a big deal on its own but if he did indeed use it to then catch and knock you out, without getting off the horse until you were caught, I'd say that's a rather blatant abuse of an unintended mechanic/bug.

Then again, maybe combat from horses is their intention later on? Idk though this seems like a pretty scummy tactic.
