actually im hugely enjoying how this has turned out! look at how some of you seem to feel so threatened by this thread.

new brodgar with its location being within the spawn area would be newb-friendly and easier access for everyone, a plan of a trading center or bazzar or whatever being there sounds like a good idea to me, although it would attract even more attentions than before. the most important (curiosity-wise) would be how long robben and his members can maintain their efforts.

that said, i have one more question:
Robben_DuMarsch wrote:For now, I would like to offer one thing to people looking for a reason to trust us:
New Brodgar has no city wall. We purposefully allow anyone and everyone free entry, understanding this dampens our "competitiveness."

so why this treaty officially when you are trying to welcome everyone free entry?

@Tonky after monitoring this thread I'm actually still struggling to see the logic of people who somehow feel threatened by this thread.

I feel the need to reiterate the self defense rhetoric that I tried to address before this thread went down the shitter. I haven't exactly gotten a good response to my question and concerns

Does self defense where hitting back at targets make us a legitimate faction

is brodgar already a faction that is a safe haven for "noobs" that want to live in peace?

whats so hard to see? being able to gather people is a power.
think about it. one shadowchris isnt a threat, but when a dozen shadowchrises show up trying to band with another dozen or more.... ¦]

The nature of your question was addresses here, on page 3.

It's not what they're doing, but how.

In previous worlds, if someone from NB attacked and killed a griefer, that'd be it. There was no leadership posting threads about it on the forum or representing the group. NB admin did not take actions outside their own little area, they just policed their internal laws. I'm not the most politically up to date, but if lady goo agrees with me I think my point has some merit.

That doesn't mean everyone's going to go murder NB, or that NB is a threat necessarily. It does change how factions will view it though, and they need to be careful they don't get considered competition.

It should be pointed out after bod dole died people practically begged for posts about it, so NB obliged with the thread. It's also utter rubbish to say that self defense, in haven, doesn't involve tracking and killing your aggressor. Because that's how it's always been. Salt the earth your attacker because it's the only way to ensure they won't come back.

This. The people responsible for his death didn't brag about it until people practically begged them. Even then it took them a couple of days to make a single half assed post about it.

Don't really agree with your thinking that the problem was simply because they made a thread about it. Making a brag thread about gangbanging bob dole and minion is a defense measure. obviously large pvp factions might not be scared, but future groups of 2 griefers will likely be put off.

Even large factions may talk about leaving NB as a haven for new players, but reality is they would much prefer roaming the starting area picking off small weak groups and hermits - than risk characters against an actual defense force which might pose some threat.

but once they have strong combat alts and spare equipment, I predict they will decide NB has crossed some invented line. So prepare thy anus ;) I hope there will be some good moot threads.
