Since there seems to be quite a lot of controversy, I visited New Brodgar today as a neutral party. I told Robben I was going ahead of time, didn't have any problems getting attacked or anything. I can't say that there is no paranoia there as I did hear some stuff from an ex-resident the day before, but it didnt seem that evident while I was there, anyway. Obviously this could have been an act or some sort of function of them trusting me in particular, so I can't really conclude much, but I would suggest that prospective residents not approach the city without making contact first, since there are skirmishes now and then. I was ready to get chased and write a much more interesting post about corruption and paranoia... Someone felt comfortable enough to spar me, at least.

I also encountered one person who wasn't in the militia, Frenesi (earlier killed by Ainran, I think), who was fairly incoherent but seemed to be pretty happy living in the city. I'm unsure how many plots are very active, as I have heard wildly varying estimates of population, but its certainly an impressive place visually... kindof how I imagine Ankh-Morpork.

It is a bit of a shame that the city is being griefed on the west side, I imagine it will be nearly impossible to get up the outer wall with current game mechanics. Sadly at the moment I don't see any reason for either side to make peace or even a ceasefire due to lack of trust and general inability to inflict anything other than mild annoyance on each other.

I'm a little worried about their industry in the long run, though, based on their comments about the q60 swords on Ainran's rage alts. I also saw some tar kilns burning. I would suggest hardcore mining.

Not at all, my comment referred to how it was suprising to put q60 steel swords on rage alts. This is because quality doesn't impact damage too much compared to str. If you got a q100 anvil and hammer then yeah its gonna boost that q up real good. However if possible its better to use wallgrade steel for alts as you aren't risking much and don't gain much from the quality boost. It's just an efficiency thing mostly. It's not hard to get q60 swords by any stretch of the imagination.

That WAS wallgrade steel. At least I assume so, it would be for us. I actually think it is rather difficult to make a q60 sword only now even with q10 steel, pretty sure it would turn out higher...

Yeah, pretty sure we made those swords right after the update with like our first new anvil and hammer and old steel.

Are you sure it wasn't the others shouldering the burden when you disappeared for decades that enabled your mains login at safe places ?!? :P ;)

ahahaha.... burn. no risk no reward. you may have survived for 3 worlds but at what cost to any of your allies or friends? i always loved getting risky, its so far been most rewarding.
