The request handler is overloaded.

Pops when I navigate through forum, sometimes 1 of 10 refreshes actually serves page.
It takes more time for pages to load too

Being inundated with dumb bots vacuuming the webz for AI training data and such, it would appear. A non-zero part of the acute problem is, however, phpbb sucking. No plan of action RN.

the easy but obtrusive method would be restricting forum access to people with an account. the question is just how many people visit the forums without being signed in.

i don't know if something was done but i'm suddenly seeing only like five to eight bots on at once. it's been 100+ "guests" online on the forums for like a year straight until now.
