Depends, quite some years back I made a kanu trip through the swedish lakes, there was one area that was infested with things that looked like german house flies (just brown instead of black) that managed to nibble at you for golf ball sized swellings (ok, slightly exaggerating, but not by much). Instead of putting up the tent we fled into a weather hut with an oven and turned it into a sauna to keep these things out (and thermally kill the ones that came in anyway) - they were too plenty to slay all. Was reminded by the game of them and suspect you took these as templates for the swarms.

Would I live there I would kill them by any means necessary, even going nuclear should normal fire (and all other options) fail...

Please let us kill them, with fire, let us initiate combat on them with a lit torch (as the only weapon to hit then for damage) equipped.

Could add a silk net to catch them.
Or a mosquito net mask. As long as the rest of your body is covered in clothing they cant really hurt you.
