Maybe this should be obvious, but when you play this game for years you start taking certain pieces of knowledge as granted.
To "eat at a table"
1) Sit in a chair that is facing the table.
2) Right-click the table.
3) Click the "feast" button on the table UI (if it does not appear, your chair and table are not aligned.)
4) Your cursor should turn into a "fork" and you can now left-click the food pieces in the table inventory to consume them, granting you:
-Energy (same amount if you would right click -eat)
-FEPs (increased by the "Food event bonus" -percentage)
-Hunger (decreased to the "hunger modifier" -percentage)
Hunger is very misleading term as the whole has nothing to do with starvation, you gain it in response to eating food, and it's a bad thing because it reduces your FEP efficiency. This is the whole reason for this convoluted mess, it used to be mandatory to have labor alts to not ruin your FEPs. Now you can just slave away and eat any crap as long as you are under 8000%. (Gaining neither FEPs or Hunger.)
