Don't for get to water them!
That now also seems to run out, which also disables the mound bed.

My last post here is timestamped 3:32, posted not too long after I encountered this bug. Compare that with the timestamp on this one to get a time interval. It should be approx. 12 hours.

In that time, my 5 "junk" compost boxes produced 21 mulch. My 5 crop-protecting mound beds, full up when I posted, were still colloured like working mound beds, but consumed all 21 mulch, and the final one wasn't sated.

All the mulch went to a subset of the mound beds. Two or three got the lot. The others didn't accept any.

So I have a mulch consumption rate approaching 1 compost bin per mound bed, if real time feeding.

Fortunately I keep a stack on hand, which isn't empty *yet*. And I have 3 haven seasons once this winter ends, to accumulate stacks and stacks of mulch for next winter..

But I've given up keeping my tree farm in autumn over this winter, to the extent that my trees haven't already converted when my mound beds went down yesterday.

And to keep my fields producing, I fear I'll need to check and refresh mound beds as frequently as one need to replenish steel crucibles, but with less predictability and more loss when I miss a visit.

That would account for a lot. Before this change, mound beds only needed water if you planned to plant something in them.

I keep a separate set for that, available whatever the haven season. Sometimes I also use the crop protecting mound beds that way, but not this year, so none of them have been watered.

OTOH, I'm not sure if it is true. A friend who almost always plants in her crop-protection mound beds is the person who warned me about the mound bed problem; she had presumably watered hers. (I can't check for sure right now; she's not online currently.)

I'm not 100% sure. But pretty confident in it (Related posts).

The rate of mulch consumption has gone way down, and I probably haven't had any more withered crops.

I've been checking them twice a day, which is very much unwelcome.

Possibly a partial fix has been implemented, to make the behaviour a little more like what we were told was going to happen, but with no announcement.

On the other hand, given the crickets from the dev team, it's possible that the code is unchanged. There's merely some unknown factor in this misfeature/bug, and when that factor recurs, mulch consumption will go back through the roof.

Perhaps we'll get the same spike at the start of every winter. Or perhaps there'll be some even less obvious pattern.

Well I know have 2 watered mound beds and 3 unwatered, all on pavement, all being checked twice a day and fed mulch as needed. All 5 are behaving much the same, except the mulch consumption per day seems to have decreased - possibly decreased twice, but my sample isn't big enough to be sure of that.

It's now running perhaps a hair less than one mulch per mound bed per RL day on world 16, and presumably a third again as much on the sped-up world 16.1

FWIW, I haven't added water to the two that got it since I first watered them to plant some herbs in them. I've been only checking and reloading mulch.

Yea. So far my mulch beds also consume just ~1 mulch per day.
mvgulik wrote:It seems that after building a mound bed, its in fast decay mode ... Or ... it thinks it has (or had) only one mulch to spend.
To counter act that you need to do a full refill of the just build mound bed to make it think it has more mulch/time in store. So that 2x12 mulch per newly build mound bed. :(

"Decayed mulch beds also seem to take 2x12 mulch." Well ... at least for newly build mound beds that where not refilled. Not sure about fully refilled mound beds as I have not had those decay yet.

All mound beds, build in this world 16.0 autumn, on plowed fields decayed.
Mine as well in mid winter. First time I put them in late Autumn. Came back to dead everything. They were planted with flowers and they were ready to harvest. Thought... my bad, but i KNOW that was not an issue in the past.
So new beds with no flowers. the beds failed again and dead crops again. The decay occurred in < 3 IRL days.

Edited July 2.
W16.1 mound beds still broken. All crops dead 3 days into winter. Please undo the "fix" and make a mound bed last all winter. This is killing all my crops as I think the beds are OK yet they fail. Farming in winter is now a no go. Animals are going to starve. This above all things makes me unhappy as hell.
