MacOS: How to move? (workaround available)

The worst monsters in the Hearthlands warp the fabric of space and time...

I played H&H1.0 and Salem with no problems until now though. There seem to be no options to change bit depth. <sigh> Is it too much to ask the universe to just let me play already...lol.

I'm still considering if I'll subscribe or not, but this bug is not really helping their case.. especially since the same bug was known from Salem already (and fixed it seems; I just tried to download and play it, and it works fine)..

Found this: http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic ... 8c206adec5
http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic ... 39#p220113

I will try to find info if someone will try to translate this mumbo jumbo to something an idiot like myself can understand.

I have noticed previously that there are OSX related issues with this. It seems to be for people who have their displays set to 16-bit depth. Increase it to 32 bits and it should go away.

Should 64 be fine then? Found mine is at 64. "RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64" I've never had this issue in the old version or Salem.

Find your bit depth: http://apple.stackexchange.com/question ... -or-64-bit

I read through both threads..

from what I gathered it's this..

1) Java sucks
2) Removing the jdk from your library seems to work (please please please don't listen to that, as there are multiple jdk's in your library, and i don't know which ones you need and which ones you don't. So go read the forum posts)

I play games great, but working the language of computers... I'm a moron, no joke. I'm very sad now.

Jorbtar, please please don't forsake the macs. Help us figure this out. I know you have a lot on your hands right now, so I don't expect swiftness, but just keep us on your list please so we can play soon.

Ok guys, i found the temporary solution, until developers (hopefully) fix this.
This includes replacing java with old version, which lowers security of your mac, so H&H devs should still fix the issue with latest version of java.

First, download and install this:
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US

After it's installed, open terminal, and type this commands one by one:

Code: Select all
sudo mkdir -p /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/disabled

Code: Select all
sudo mv /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/disabled

Code: Select all
sudo ln -sf /System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle/Contents/Resources/JavaPlugin2_NPAPI.plugin /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin

Code: Select all
sudo ln -sf /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Commands/javaws /usr/bin/javaws

Thanks, Litaskull, dropping down to the old (less-secure) Java worked for me.
