I can confirm that animals prefer to eat from chicken coop and not from trough. Trough have same value as yesterday, chicken coop dropped in value and test subject animal have 100% satiety (was around 90).

It is possible to raise Q, you just need to use ONLY pure food for them and don`t place coop in any vicinity of tamed animals.
If not - you can keep them with Q10 clovers for some eggs.

From my experience - there is no bug with chicken Q. Rounding food Q down is a big issue though, cause it`s impossible to raise Q of fodder, only drop it.

My testing confirmed a but with large animals eating from chicken coop food stock, ignoring the trough.

P.S. Maybe it`s worth un-merging and renaming my posts? cause bug is not with chicken Q, but with tamed animals interaction. Oh well.

Chickens/Coops

Postby Gacrux » Sun Oct 04, 2015 11:46 pm

Is ther really any point in keeping them in coops atm since their q is a downward slope?

I mean seriously from an egg they go from q 15 and by the time they are even able to mate they are worse than q10.

I'm sure this has been brought to JLO's attention at some point I'm just surprised it hasn't been rectified, same with the troughs having serious q issues..

i dunno ive tried to point this out over and over, but people keep arguing other points about fodder and water instead of noticing that the full grown chicken quality just drops no matter what, so they may not recognize it as bug yet since it keeps getting buried by fodder etc discussions

my chicks started at 14 13 14 and they are now down to 11 10 7 and not even full grown yet AND YES FODDER AND WATER IS ABOVE Q 14, by the time they hit full grown they are at 10 or under, and then drop further daily

Has anyone been able to raise their chicken q's to over 20 yet?

I'm giving up on my chickens, I just use the eggs and that's it.

I tried the method of filling the trough then unloading the trough the last two weeks into the coop and that hasn't seemed to work either. My chickens keep going down to 8/5/5 quality no matter what. Even if they hatch at a q 15 egg, eventually they'll go down to a 8/5/5 chicken over time.

I've been using carrots to feed them, my carrots are 38/50/43 and the water is something like 30/38/51 so.... they shouldn't be 8/5/5.

Might be a strech, but have you considered building a new chicken coop and see if this behavior persists? I know Jorb stated that the coops q *should* not affect chickens, but still. Might be just a bugged structure for some reason.

My coops are working fine we had two coops, one coop had feed in it with all stats above 10+ and another coop with feed that had all quality except essence above 10 the chickens in the coop with the stat that was lower than 10 slowly dropped in quality in that one stat till it was the same quality as the feed.

putting ANY feed in your coop no matter if its just one piece with one stat that is lower than 10 will drop your feed quality significantly.

Get a bucket and use it on your coop check the qualities of the swill.

I have since updated the feed in the coop that had the lower quality feed, the chickens no longer lose quality in that stat so it seems to be working as intended even if its not that intuitive im suprised that this thread has even gone this far without anyone working this out...

I thought the "hardcapping" of swill with food quality was figured out somewhere at page 2... Just to clarify, if you have 299 of 50/50/50 food in there and you put a 10/10/10 clover in, you get 300 of 10/10/10 swill.

No, you will get 49/49/49 food. You would have to place 40 carrots like that to make it drop to 10/10/10. However, once it drops it's impossible to raise it again.

bwhite0425 should check the quality of swill in his coop.
