Regarding the Hearth Vault

Postby loftar » Mon Aug 31, 2015 3:09 am

Some of you may have noticed that many of the threads and/or individual posts from the earlier forums are gone from the Hearth Vault archive. I just want to state that this is not intentional, and that I didn't notice until after the fact, when many new posts had already been made, so I couldn't just restore the backup again.

It pains me that they are gone, and I'll try to fix it. However, since I haven't written phpBB myself, it's hard to tell what happened and what I can safely do about it, so I don't know when (or even if) it will be fixed, but I just wanted to state that it is my intention to try and restore them. They do still exist in the backup, after all, so I reckon it should be possible somehow.

Don't worry about it. if they wanted the post back tell em to remake the thread.

You got better things to worry about then the forums atm.

I agree. It's not my first priority, but I do want them back myself. There's a lot of history in there, after all.

Yeah, it was a real shame, I hope you can restore some of it, if not, well, it will soon be forgotten. (Meanwhile I'm credited with the 'post gif or die thread' :) )

Is the search function working properly? I was trying to dig up a post jorb made earlier, forgot which thread it was, and could only find his posts from the ones in the Hearth Vault, and nothing that has been made in the last few days.

Or maybe there is just an indexing delay on the search, intentionally or due to heavy(er) traffic? I'm not familiar enough with the internal workings of phpBB.

I'd love to follow up some old haven history in there. Shame they're all gone.
