Support pillar indicator not accurate?

So in that red box, the tiles I was mining started with the "sprinkling of soil from above" indicating collapse chance as far as I understand it.

The second tile collapsed, ripping down a whole chunk of tiles to the south but no boulders. Where I'm standing is the old cave wall, to the south is missing 10 tiles or so.

Thing is, this is all within my pillar radius.

Will investigate, thanks.

Second occurrence. Mined red square, tunnel that appeared behind it was a "cave in"...? No noise or anything, it happens instantly on tile collapse.

I think its meant to be more like guideline, not actual range.

Oh, so upon closer inspection. You guys aren't getting caveins, but rather opening natural galleries. Caveins turn already mined tiles back to black tiles, and none of you seem to have had that problem.

Opening galleries is not negative, thus the mine supports do not prevent it.

Ah! Well that makes sense.

Possible we could get an indicator/noise, or an associated experience to hint it's not some wonky bug ingame? Would be neat :)
