Invalid argument: connect?

Postby TiFFman » Thu Feb 04, 2016 6:23 am

So I took a break and wanted to come back and play some more. I downloaded the new launcher and everything. However when I try and connect using the default launcher or a custom client I get an "Invalid argument: connect" error. I've reinstalled Java 8, new clients, and I'm out of ideas. I can post the full exception if it would help.

"java.net.SocketException: Invalid argument: connect"

Edit:
Going to try and install Java 6 and 7, see if either of those work.

Edit2:
So going back to Java 6 worked, but game is extremely laggy and custom clients won't work. Something doesn't want me to play again :P

Need more information before we can help. What OS are you using?

Also to note, the custom clients may require Java 7 or 8 to run, so if you've had to go back to 6, they won't work.

I'm also moving this to Bugs so it gets more visibility. (I, at least, completely missed it the last few days.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

possible solutions to try

1. check that no AV - Firewall is blocking

2. open cmd window type
Code: Select all
netsh winsock reset
press enter

3.custom client = edit run.bat put in
Code: Select all
 -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
after java
Example only!how it may look - don't just copy
Code: Select all
java  -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar haven.jar moltke.seatribe.se -r
pause
