Drowning while in a boat

So to get to the boat, since it was in the deep water, I turned on swimming. Moved the boat, got out of it, no stamina used, turned off swimming and went back into the boat. Suddenly I am dead in the middle of the lake, my HP and Stamina empty. There were no people around so I assume that I died by drowning.

Can you check and see how I died, coz I think it's a bug that got me killed, and not drowning in the boat.

There are/have been some outstanding bugs with swimming out to boats. The swimming state isn't toggled off correctly or something like that and you end up drowning while in the boat.

Actually few days ago I did swim to a boat while being chased and I didn't die, I toggled on swimming to grab a boat that was near a cliff in deep water and toggled it off on land, nearest land 2 blocks away where I could get out and stand, so it makes no sense, I then rowed good 30 blocks away, over shallow and deep and died in a deep spot right next to a lot of shallow water.

it has happened to me too but luckily noticed in time. don't know how to reproduce though. there was a lot of boat interaction, swimming, jumping from boat to boat etc. control+clicked to get out and was swimming, without having turned it on (no swimming "buff" icon in top left screen).

as far as I can see, many cliffs are involved in this. I was forced to turn on swimming as well (like this guy viewtopic.php?f=47&t=45962 ) while going into the boat next to a steep cliff. But I didn't take damage until I disembarked, turned off swimming and went on the boat again O.o
