Wrecking Ball, No Wrek

Postby Malthezzar » Sun Jun 12, 2016 7:26 pm

I've let this wrecking ball shit for about 30 hours, but it still won't give the wreck prompt. I had another one at a different claim and it worked just fine. I've also used them numerous times before, so I feel pretty confident this isn't just a simple user error.

My guess, is that I must've placed it directly in the middle of those two palisade tiles so it isn't detecting them properly? Anyone know what might be the problemo before I resort to other measures?

Do you use default client?
If not, its probably custom clients fault.
Or then you jsut placed it incorrectl.y

While I'm sure it's possible for a custom client to cause this issue, I think it would have to actually be intentional (or a big blunder in changing the code).

It's placed wrong. The inside supports point the direction the ball needs to face.

According to Loftar it should have the 'wreck' option instantly after placing it correctly (with the error that it isn't ready yet).

The wedges are supposed to be opposite the site it swings. So, it is not placed incorrectly.

That's from my other one.

I didn't think to check that upon placement, sadly.

I stand corrected, then. Apologies.

Any other position issue certainly doesn't come to mind, but after some time from this and then re-reading it, I seem to remember an issue with corners of walls. I'm not finiding what I thought I remember, though, so maybe got two wires crossed somewhere.

It kind of looks like you placed it in a way where the wrecking ball is on the grid line between the corner post and next wall segment so maybe it's confused

Will look at it, at least.

Hey, was this ever resolved?

Was it because the wrecking ball lay between two wall segments? Like so;

Image

Only I didn't notice this when I placed it, have waited over 24hrs and it won't work ... just the disassemble option ... I've since read in here that it should have had the wreck option when placed correctly even if not ready yet, so assuming it is because it is on the grid line. :(

Edit;

Answered it myself ... disassembled and moved it and yes that was it ...

Image

24hrs wasted ..... :(

Edit2: Update;

Well, turns out there was quite a nice update to this ... I reset the ball and went back to mine to log off and just as I was about to sleep in my bed, a villager I have kinned from the place I was trying to get into suddenly logged on, after over a month of inactivity ... :roll: ... so I turn around and head back to get my ball only to realise that ofc the authority will be back up now and therefore my ball will be stuck there. :x

The guy is still on line so I make my way over there and manage to spot him. I ask him if he will come get my ball for me, lol, I wasn't expecting a good response tbh, I was just trying to break in there, lol, but he doesn't seem at all bothered by that and he does come to get my ball back for me! :D

Not only that but ... the sole reason I wanted in there in the first place was because there was a female sheep wandering around and I have just recently acquired two males ... :) ... so, I ask him if I can trade for it ... turns out he needed a wrecking ball to destroy a wall! :D

So, now he uses my ball, I have a female sheep ... once he has destroyed the wall I get my ball back and once the sheep have bred I return him a breeding pair. :)

Good results all round and I (and my rams) couldn't be happier. :D
