unable to launch?

Postby Ants » Wed Jul 03, 2019 9:31 pm

The default client crashes immediately when I try to launch it. Ardenne's client gives me a message saying "A java exception has occured". Searching for a java crashdump starting with hs_err_pid brings up nothing. Reinstalling java didn't work,Updating my graphics driver didn't work and neither did disabling integrated graphics. What do I do?

I assume you've downloaded the autohaven.jar file. It would help if you could run the command "java -jar autohaven.jar" (from the directory that you've put autohaven.jar in) in a command prompt so that it can print out whatever exception it's dying from.

C:\Users\Poppy>java -jar C:\Users\Poppy\Desktop\Haven\autohaven.jar
launcher: no bootstreap config found

usage: launcher.jar [-h] [CONFIG-URL]

That's quite weird. I know for a fact that autohaven comes with a bootstrap config. Some other people are reporting this is somehow a Java bug, though I don't quite understand it. Have you had a Java update lately? It is also reported that uninstalling and reinstalling Java has helped; have you tried that?

Other than that, try also running "java -jar autohaven.jar https://game.havenandhearth.com/java/hafen.hl" to see if specifying an explicit config works.

There was no java update. I recently got a new computer, so I had to download java from scratch. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it several times. Specifying the config launches this screen, but it crashes almost immediately.

What's an old version of java that's confirmed to work with H&H? Maybe it's just the latest release that's not compatible.
EDIT: I tried uninstalling java and installing Java 8 update 171 which is confirmed to work for others. It still gives me the bootstreap error.

By the way, I tried Ender client to see what would happen. I get this screen and then it stops loading:

Trying to open the Ardennes client batch file as an administrator gives me this error:

It can't access hafen.jar even though it's in the same folder. Maybe the issue I'm having with the other clients (including vanilla) is similar somehow. Any idea?

Trying to open hafen.jar from the cache folder gives me this error:
Untitled.png
Untitled.png (35.84 KiB) Viewed 3897 times

Don't know if that's normal or if it might shed some light on what's up.
