Only reasonable fix to this is both the horse and player drown. Also your character and that horse should be removed from the game for fairness.

In fairness i was quite capable of swimming to the shore it wasn't that far off

But the horse would buck you off resulting in a KO. Instant death. I do feed like whirlpools should not freeze as they’re moving water and that’s hard to freeze. However; if someone strolls on out on ice and jumps into a whirlpool while on a horse either the horse should buck you off then and refuse to go in OR you die on your way through with your loyal ass horse. (And I was joking about your character)

Whirlpools shouldnt "work" unless all the iceblocks either entirely or from the perimiter of the 5x5 area are dug out


or just make whirlpools spawn somewhere else if they end up freezing over

It's possible to get a kicksled to go through a whirlpool it's a bit tricky to do but it can be done. Also the kicksled takes no damage.
