Plz. Oh! All mighty Dev-Godz.

Don't allow this to happen ever again with any hearthling. Specialy don't let anymore blacksmiths to loose their only hammer like this.

I missclick my hand slot while trying to put the aforementioned hammer in my hand, it dropped near my tower door frame, making it inacessible.

Perhaps you could make a "spell" command to pick up objects from the floor from distance. Untill you could figured things out about this collision issues.

I'm mourning the hammer, but still playing.

Myeah, known issue. Not sure of the proper fix. Will consider.

When a dropped item is deciding a valid location have it check for object bounding boxes and refuse to drop inside of those?

It already does that. The problem is that the process of finding a valid location is somewhat stochastic and has to give up after a while.

Any way to change the process so that it has a bit of a more determined means of selecting? Maybe have it start at a coordinate right in front of the player and slowly circle out from there--and if it can't find a valid spot in that range it spits a "Can't drop that here" or something of that sort.

Drop items where the player is standing, within the (without moving) pick-up range of the player. Items spilled from objects within the bounding box of the object they come from in case the object is destroyed, on the player position in case the player is manipulating them.
