Bug/Oversight? Attacking small game avoids survival hardcap

Postby Tubby_Squirrel » Thu Aug 11, 2022 12:28 am

Title. A character with 1 Survival and 1 UA is able to punch small game down and circumvent the survival hard cap on the animal's quality resulting in the full quality of the animal.

This is not the case with Bats (Which I would also classify as 'small game' since their corpse fits inside a player's inventory.) so I assume this is a bug or oversight.

What the heck, delete this before the jorbmaster sees it and fixes it before the world resets.

When animals kill each other, there is no quality cap.

You can get q40 squirrel/rabbit killed by a fox or wolverine. HQ foxes can get killed by a badger or wood grouse.

That is significantly harder to set up or stumble upon. Jorb please fix punch exploit.

Rephrased for maximum clarity: animals that don't fight back, but drop a dead version of themselves upon death, do not get capped when attacked by players. This means you can bypass the intended survival hardcap on squirrels, hedgehogs and rabbits by killing them through combat instead of picking them up.

Well the fox/wolverine/wolf probably has a high survival ;P

Also Moles (but this would be a lot more tedious) and Chickens.

Only way to really fix this is to cause picking up a critter corpse for the first time to be the action that applies the cap.

Pretty sure this is doable considering the way dice can remember if they've been rolled.

These kritters cannot reach high qualities, nor do they require multiple people to kill. What does it matter?
Survival hardcap was introduced to stop people from cheesing trolls and the like with alts.
