troll on the 2nd level of the cave

dug up a troll on the 2nd level of the cave. Is this legal or a bug?

w13 I fought a level 1 troll.
AFAIK, they're just more rare at higher levels.

It's clear that it's a shame for the first time when you're lucky. He killed me.

Were you on horseback? Trolls are supposed to perform a chest-thumping animation until they aggro you, giving time to run.
However if you're on horseback, their anti-kite mechanic immediately kicks in and they aggro your horse with zero delay.
