instruments

ok, first of all, the music update is great.

couple things:
fiddle seems to have slightly too much latency on the attack, and not enough sustain/release, not sure what the deal is here.
would be nice to have at the very least full octave +1 (high c/low c), i understand keys are limited. maybe instead of having the full octave have the ability to select a key and only show the proper 8 notes from that key. then maybe you would be able to play 3 full octaves (on key) at once with q-i,a-k,z-,
support for other keyboard layouts would, i'm sure, be appreciated.

additional instruments that would be great
drum - dried hide stretched over a wooden frame. only two or three different sounds possible.
some kind of horn - you know, some of those long trumpet like things, bonus points for attached flags.
additional flute type - kind of a bagpipe style, craft it with some dried hides and some bone, maybe you can call it a skin flute.

It would be nice to have designate bass instruments, yeah. I do love the start though, but learning how to instrument in hafen is proving frustrating (particularly because I suffer from the scratchy sound bug)

i think an accordion or concertina would be awesome but they seem a bit more advanced than the game tech level. would love a hurdy-gurdy or reed organ though

"Hearthlings are well known for their invention of the very odd waterphone, a contraption of steel tubes attached to a water filled drum, played with a baton to unnerving effect. Certain individuals would carry them into caves, often intimidating or even terrifying denizens in adjacent but surprisingly distant tunnels."

It is a ridiculous and impossible idea, but I thought it amusing.

We definitely need percussion and horns :)

I think that we should be able to tune the instruments up and down somewhat so that we can make it easier to play certain tunes. Chords on the lute can be kindof hard to get just right right now. You can actually play notes from different octaves on the fiddle at the same time, but its quite unreliable. Melody I have sort of got the hang of I hope...

Another thing I'd like to see is some chanting. Maybe a handful of different syllables to choose from at different pitches? Or humming?

Horn and drum already planned.

Accordion and bagpipes would be really awesome if nothing else because it would look nice as all dat.
