As shown in the picture I posted in the screenshots thread, I recently found a small holding with palisade and lots of goodies. I promptly claimed it (their first mistake) and then sealed all of the doors using the unsealed posts (their second mistake).
Now, I won't have the capabilities to ram my way in for a long while, which got me thinking.... The poor fellows inside are now completely stuck. I could free them myself by unclaiming it, but I would lose LP and I DO want their goodies for myself, but I still think it's poor game design that a character can become trapped with no way to escape.
They cannot break their hearthfires because I have claimed the land, they cannot leave because they are locked in.... Their characters are essentially dead. I propose the ability to destroy your hearthfire in the same manner you remove a surveying post. Requiring high strength levels, along with being unbreakable on a claim without vandalism seems broken to me.
For instance I could, were I so inclined, find an area with hearthfires outside, build a small fence around them, claim the land, and they are all instantly fucked the second they hearth back, unless they realize beforehand.
In short, I feel bad that i've now doomed these people to have to make new characters, but I still want and deserve their delicious booty.
