Exactly what I was going to say. Discarding shouldn't be a normal thing you use really if your deck is designed intelligently. Lowering the cooldown makes it a normal part of the combat strategy.

Exactly why I didn't suggest it be instant. With a small cooldown, a more efficient deck that requires no burns will still have a small advantage over a large decker who has to burn moves.

but currently if you use CTRL+# you are simply playing the game wrong, cooldown is too long. quicker to use most moves instead.

ok sevenless already said it right:

It's still a penalty if it's half the cooldown.

As it is currently, there's almost no point burning moves except to prevent deck locks (which will only happen in terribad decks anyway). You might as well just use them.

You guys know you're not just supposed to stand still, right? There are a few ways to lose someone and get time to discard/cycle a bit...

Our concern is that with a "small cooldown", larger decks will in fact have an advantage, because it is easier to search for whatever combo you need. I think the idea of the card-based combat system is that you have to guess what your opponent will do to you, and choose your deck accordingly (doesnt really work that way in practice, right now, as has been discussed ad nauseam).

If you make discard cooldown like half the cd of the move you're discarding, it becomes pointless to even use most cards and give info to your opponent, and if you know how to keep your opponent at bay you can quite easily search your massive deck for whatever you need, removing the risk of having the wrong deck or the rewards for using an off-meta deck. I suggested shortening it somewhat but making it as short as you guys say I think would be too much. I'm even worried about my suggestion being overpowered, honestly.
