Maybe not chocolate, but in Spain refined sugar from sugarcane was introduced by Arabs in the ninth century. I bet turkish and so eastern europe had it too way before us. The problem is that it grows in tropical or demitropical biomes.
It could be introduced as a "Trading from beyond the hearthlands" once Kingdoms is released. Also is not a crazy idea to introduce some rare stuff from other "kingdoms" by adding persian caravans or something like that.

Neither cane sugar or chocolate was very wide spread in Europe before the Spanish brought them back from the Americas. The Maya drank hot chocolate (very bitter, no sugar) for hundreds of years before the Europeans arrived. It was the Spanish that first combined sugar and chocolate as they didn't like the Mayan version.
