Ships and deep water content

Because someone has to keep the tradition of asking for them every month.

For a Scandinavian dev team the game has a surprising lack of ships and water-based activities. Or even oceans.

Suggestion: sailing ships or large sail boats as the water equivalent of the wagon, and restricted to deep water. Water PvE in the form of whales, sharks, as a type of mid-game hunting because land animals become too easy after a while; exclusive deep sea curios, and ship v. ship archery PvP. And larger water bodies, of course.

With the current map generator, I doubt deep water content is something that would work. Even the biggest lakes can be crossed in a minute or two. For oceans and deep water and giant ships, sharks, whales and what not to ever work, we'd need a new world map generator.

We'd need a map generator that makes something like this, several of them. With deep water inbetween them that can only be crossed by big, difficult to make ships. Naturally, something like this would require a new world, it'd take a long time to make and require lots of things be changed and tested. But if done correctly, it could open up massive potential for the game (each island for example could have it's own resources that are unique to it).

I agree although there's more pressing matters at the moment like hunting with slings and resource nodes, but I would LOVE to have a houseboat & or a fasterboat/boat with more storage room.

This is the stuff of an entirely new game.

Case in point: Don't Starve, and/or DS:Reign of Giants, VERSUS Don't Starve: Shipwrecked.

I would rather have more minor things added and optimised first, if that's OK.
