Alt abuse isn't as bad as it used to be but my village is still experiencing it. Somehow few things are more annoying or theme-breaking than a naked woman screaming obscenities outside your gate with nothing you can do about it - since killing her will stop it for maybe a minute tops.
I know devs hate naked alts as much as I do given the heavy labor nerf to stamina. So I've been thinking about all the legit scenarios where someone will want to control where they spawn, and how you could allow that without alt abuse.
SCENARIO 1: A bunch of nubs want to start the game together.
Or: A nub tries the game for a few days, finds it swell and wants to bring in his friends.
-If a completely fresh character with no ancestor spawns in a random place in the world (no beacon), he gets the "Founder" buff for 7(?) days.
-While he has the Founder buff, up to 6(?)people can enter in his hearth secret at the animal skull pole to light it, just like with beacons.
-If they do so, these people will start (without the Founder buff themselves since they didn't spawn randomly), about where the founder spawned. NOT on his hearthfire or himself, on his spawn.
-Thus, groups can spawn together, but alt abuse is prevented because they can't control where they spawn.
-By the time this group is established enough that they might want to use alts to abuse people, the buff will have run out and it has a limited number of charges anyway.
SCENARIO 2: You died and want to spawn on your old hearthfire as a descendant.
-Death already carries a penalty of 60%-90% of your LP.
-Besides this, there should be a MINIMUM loss of 40,000(?) LP. So you lose that or 60%-90% whichever is greater.
-If a character can't pay the minimum, he is too weak to have descendants. His line ends and he can't spawn on his old HF (which vanishes).
-Therefore, normal people can still respawn but infinite alt spawn is disabled.
SCENARIO 3: An established character wants to invite a friend to the game.
-This one is the trickiest and I'm not sure how to go about it. They all involve making the wilderness beacon limited or costly. Some combination of:
-Make wilderness beacon require Yeomanry
-Make wilderness beacon cost LP to light, the cost increasing the more of them a character lights and decreasing slowly over time
-Make wilderness beacon give the red handed debuff so you have to make your character vulnerable to create one near an enemy base
-Make wilderness beacon unlightable unless your character is a week old (if he's younger, use scenario 1 to invite friends - or if you were summoned yourself, you can't bring people in)
-You can't light more than 3 wilderness beacons, recharging by one a month.
