Rework the experience system

Postby ven » Mon Mar 14, 2016 3:07 pm

I recall experience was intended as a mechanic to encourage active playing and make botting harder. However, at the moment it's irrelevant. I receive more experience points than I'd ever use even if I autostudied mirkwoods 24/7, and so do my claim management alts, who are online about 45 seconds per week.

Is removing experience the solution? I don't think so. My suggestion is that experience be made more meaningful, to the point that an active player shouldn't be able to study more than 6 mirkwoods a day. I don't know if that means reworking the lore popup formula or just nerfing them to 1/10 of their current values, but I think that in principle it's a good mechanic and it would be a shame if your chose to just remove it.

Experience is a real issue for my crafter as is (logs in every day) and I don't study bat wings or mirkwoods. How the hell do your claim alts get exp in 45 seconds/week?

That's another reason why it needs to be reworked then. If you're very active and aren't getting experience that means something is wrong with the system. A solution may be adding a timer to the popup formula so that it isn't just random and action-based, but also based on time online.

No idea. I leave the house to pick up bones or something else and get a chain of experience popups.
