loling heartily. How is this guy considered good again?
If what you're saying had a shred of truth to it, then literally every single PvPer in the game right now wouldn't be equipped with the exact same shit (Sword & Shield).
Unarmed doesn't have anything on MC. MC gets better spammable defenses (which doesn't even matter since unarmed can't even do shit to anybody wearing steel armor), as well as instant kill 300+ damage attacks. It has unarmed beat on all fronts.

You can overwhelm a melee fighter with ua combos... Playing purely MC reduces you to 2 moves. One has a long cooldown which can be hit by 3 of 4 different types of punches and the other is a fairly weak defense that you can hit right through, and if you're not running a red defense it'll just ping your armor for zero every time. You need a lot more STR than an MC character does, sure. but ua is much more defensive than mc is and can outlast if you're keeping on top of your one colour defences. Run yellow and blue and you're safe from chop, sting, storm of swords and cleave. GG, that's all MC fighters have.

The real issue is armor at the moment. UA fighters are able to break your defense, but once your opponent passes a certain level of AC it's just not viable anymore.

MC is pretty brainless and it's better for taking down defenses and doing big damage in a short amount of time (and with a shittier character), but I feel UA is better overall aside from the armor thing atm

What's the risk in posting with your real forum account? Are you afraid to get confrontational under your real name?

Interesting information.
Contrary to what quite a few people on here think, I am not some elite veteran hiding behind a new forum account. Rather, I am just an obnoxious cunt that words things in such a way that pretty much guarantees replies. I have about 12 forum accounts that I post with, non of which are my main ones.

My current character is fully invested in unarmed and I'm trying to get a grasp on how he would fare against the common sword & shield shit that 99% of the other people are running with.

If what you say about UA beating MC later on in the game is true, then at what point would that be? Because at this point in time, I'm sitting on 80 Unarmed and 100 in Str, Agi, Con. At this point, steel armor seems like a road block that isn't going to go away any time soon.

At the moment UA is for survivability and knocking defenses so that your melee pals can finish the job, that is if you're against anyone wearing decent armor.
Sad thing is once people are into the steel/dhelm level it becomes a lot harder for you.

It's a flaw for sure, hopefully something changes in the future through armor penetration damage making a return, or perhaps knuckle weapons.
UA is great if you're fighting mid-level characters who aren't armored to the limit, so right around this time of the world UA is doing decently :P

If you want to kill someone in heavy armor solo, go MC and hope he isn't UA
I'd prefer UA if I could get away with it and could be fucked to grind again :)

UA lets you defend against yellow and blue individually, while MC blocks multiple colours at once with both of its defensive maneuvers.
It is very easy for a UA character to hit their defenses down because there's such a wide variety of colours to ping on with few maneuvers total.

Shield up has a long cooldown and parry doesn't have the strongest defensive ability
Both parry and shield up can be hit with feigned dodge and steal thunder which are two UA abilities.
On top of that, UA gets zigzag maneuver which blocks yellow and lowers your cooldowns, so you get even faster attacks for taking out his shield maneuver lol

UA is definitely the most intricate of the 2 fighting styles, I just wish it was more viable for later on

Very informative very informative.
Maybe Jorb will make our dreams come true by giving us access to, I don't know, a claw-like weapon which ignores a percentage of armor or some shit to give UA the chance to actually do damage to heavily armored foes.

One last question before I fuck off out of here.
Should I be using Knock It's Teeth Out or Low Blow for the most part as far as UA offense goes? Or shit, should I be running both in the one deck? Because I feel like Bob Dole just sitting in my house, pumping stats and eating salt while doing fuck all of interest. I wanna go out and (attempt to) fuck some shit up.

I'm too hipster to go MC while everybody else is doing it, so I'll just stick with unarmed and then inevitably bitch about it when I die.

KiTO was super good very early. I think that Low Blow is now better since it goes through Shield Up and deals more damage.

One thing to note here is that the combat system is a damn game in itself. Making meaningful changes to it is not an entirely undaunting task.

It's pretty easy if you actually knew how to play combat jorb. Just look at the obvious stuff first. For example watch its moves gives 4 init with a short cd and sidestep with a higher cd with no bonus, with the exact same defense.

You can also look at steal thunder, basically unstoppable to prevent it from taking down all your defenses, with no cost except your enemy having 3 ip, which if you actually played combat youd know stacking ip is normal, and its the fastest attack in the game, there is no weakness to it, because it uses the same manuevers as cleave can hit, and you can give your enemy coins with yield ground if they dont stack any, which you end up stealing back anyways.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

When you get the time for such an endeavor, ask some of the more experienced fighters to help you design something new, then. You have a loyal player base, make use of it :)

And you already have a PvP test server: Valhalla (in case you let us enter it without having to suicide our characters)
