I don't mind HTTPS (and in fact the website has always supported it), I just mind the certificate protection racket. PGP has it right.

Anymore unsafe than using custom clients made by strangers?

While true, we also don't exactly do online banking over here. That being said, it's not like I'm entirely denying that there is a problem, I just need some time to accept the big CA cock. I also know that the LetsEncrypt guys have also expressed their dislike of the PKI, so I've kind of been holding out hope that they might do something about it.

Yeah it is a bit ironic the guy who refuses to use discord because "its not open source" has a game where users are basically required to blindly trust shady custom software made by russians in order to play it.
