Hearthlings have arms, they should be have some reach

Postby Granger » Mon Feb 18, 2019 12:28 pm

What about increasing the pickup distance for items a little?

Hearthlings have arms, so they should be have some reach - instead having to stand directly above the item they try to pickup.

I agree, but you're arms seem to be occupied in this picture. I feel you should need to have an empty hand to pick up items, especially at a far. When your hands are full the only way to get more items should be by other players placing them into your inventory, which can pretend the brandy is doing.

So what? Let us grab stuff with our teeth!

With proper animations, of course.

I agree.
Sometimes items get stuck near objects and it is difficult to pick them.
Sometimes picking them from just the right angle helps, but often not.

So we could steal items without wall bashing? No.

Do you want to impose us additional work in form of additional unnecessary clicks? It's game not real life, in real life putting item from hand is done without thinking, and there in computer game you don't have this intuition... No one will be able to intuitionally put their items from hands into eq just to pickup item, it would rather work this way: 1. tries to pickup item, 2. gets red text saying you have to have free hands, 3. emptying hands, 4. tries again. It's not needed to add even more bummers to this game.

Just don't put chests near walls? And, we could allow only for reaching only through non-walls and non-buildings. You voted no because of such easy to work-around situation, at what cost? Quality of Life is something you should beg for.

The easiest solution is to bash road sign.

Yeah and if there are harmful bacteria in the air the solution would be not to breathe. I think its the dropped objects which should have a check of whether they are dropped in a tile that's accessible for hearthling to walk over and pick em up

Wat?

Anyways no one said how much reach should be, I think it should be at least of size of radius on which dropped objects from in inventory can fall to, because currently if you drop items from cupboard, they can fall onto place that's not accessible without moving cupboards. So radius wouldn't be big enough to reach behind walls.

Picking up items from larger radius than 0.00001

Postby shubla » Mon Feb 25, 2019 8:43 pm

I couldn't find a thread for it.
We should be able to pick up items from at least like half a tile away.
It is very annoying when you for accidentally drop something, for example, from smelter to the ground.
Then you must spend an eternity to click the item at just the right angle, so your characters center point will get to position of that object without being blocked by the smelter.
