This idea isn’t bad, but since it allows players to get iron too quickly, a time gate would be necessary.

My brother in Christ, the whole game requires too much dedication. Bad idea btw, I don't want rustroot process to be more tedious (drying rustroot? Okay guess I'll wait for a week for my farmer to give me a herbalist table), also factions gonna run with herdsman swords day two.

Yeah, I was implying herbalist table and 8-12 hours for drying, just to have 1-3 nuggets per full table, just to get few bars on a second week of world for a meatgrinder/stone mansion or anything else without keening on mining gameplay.

I mean in early worlds surface metal was a thing but I think a noticeable difference between those words and this one is that Ochre and Cassiterite could be found on Layer 1... letting people get bog iron from the surface while miners are locked to lvl 3 layer would be a huge kick in the Dick. Not too mention the fact that forageable iron would mean you could get super high Q iron with survival alone and get ahead of everyone on the metal grind.
