Realms & Thingwalls

The window opening for TW as it currently works is stupid imo

  • Often times a TW that is ready to be claimed is in middle of night when I am sleeping
  • Often times a TW that is ready to be claimed is when I'm at work
  • Often times I just can't play at a time when TW can be claimed
  • You always have to be on top of all of the TW timers which is very frustrating ontop of all the other ingame shit

I don't want to wake up in middle of night just because a tree can be claimed and I won't quit my job in middle of the day to just claim a stupid TW, this is very common issue in villages/groups that play in similar timezones

I just want to have more control over this instead of some preset timers when it is obligatory to be playing in order to expand a realm

Here's how I would solve this:
  • The thingwalls have no initial timers
  • The thingwall claim window has to be created by hearthlings themselves
  • The thingwall claim window once initiated by hearthling opens quickly (2-3 hours) or exactly 24 hours after the initialization so atleast you have a bit more control over the TW timing
  • Same window 8hour related rules are fine or even it could be shortened by a long stretch tbh
  • There has to be a limit how many TW can be claimed over a period of time (just hard time limit or any other factor that could limit a realm expanding too quickly), additional recently claimed neighbouring TW rules?
  • A thingwall that has been recently claimed cannot be opened for claiming for x number of days

I do think that the kingdom that owns the thingwall should be able to adjust the window to their preferred time zone at least.

Being happy you got to pick a time that's good for you but in the middle of the night for the other guy probably averages out to be worse than neutral/random times after he picks a time that's in the middle of the night for you when it's his turn.

It does suck, tho

I mean the whole system sucks as you pointed out in your own thread. I'm just saying that if you are a defender you should be able to at least pick a window that's not 4am for you, also most people who engage with the system are euros and a few US boys so eh.

It would make sense for the defenders to be able to adjust the window, or at least delay the challenge a bit.

Overall, neutral thingwalls should be easier to claim. Do I really need to wake up in the middle of a night to claim thingwall that belongs to nobody?

I think a simple solution to this issue is to randomize the timer after 2 rounds. that way it can be claimed in other time zones and the timer must differ 3 hours before or ahead of the previous time minimum.

There should be no realms as they are now in the first place.
TW on their own are fine.

"...some preset timers when it is obligatory to be playing..."

The age old problem with every online game. No matter when you schedule something it will be 3AM for somebody.

Personally I feel this entire aspect of thingwalls adds nothing to the game but more animosity.
