90% of the playerbase has been complaining about winter ever since seasons were released.
That's why winter is now 5 days only, and has like 10 band-aids placed on top of it.

Nobody DDoS'd the server, hetzner is a good hosting company, they would deal with it immediately. Imagine they left it unattended for 5-10 days.

I really wish winter was just a cosmetic skin that didn't affect gameplay.

Here's an idea, instead of making zones where winter doesn't exist (greenhouse, mound bed) why not actually add winter specific farming strategies?
forcing rhubarb to harvest a crop during the winter
sprouting plants indoors so they can be planted directly at stage 1 or 2 come spring, instead of 0.
covering hardier plants in leaves/wicker/straw/fabric/mulch so they can go dormant, and gain a bonus stage or two come spring.
let some plants be planted directly during winter, stalling out at stage 2 or so before spring.
maybe even add certain crops that can ONLY be harvested during winter, like say, plants that normally pull all their energy into their roots for winter. (carrots, parsnips, beats, all get sweeter in the winter due to this, add a winter-sweet version with extra feps or energy or all of the above.)

like for real, there's this whole world of winter farming that just doesn't exist in the game, as though every living thing is just supposed to be thanos-snapped as soon as it sees snow, that's not how it works.

just give farmers something to DO in the winter, it doesn't even need to be something harvest related, just so long as it skips the first few stages come spring, and stuff that was planted in late autumn be actually useful.

like for real, yall are acting like the only options are either keeping winter or removing winter, instead of just actually improving it.

I'm definitely in the minority, but I like winter. It's great for questing and exploring, you can ride across lakes, up and down rivers, no adders to deal with. Mound beds mean I can keep some crops going, even if q doesn't increase; can also put mound bed by water to keep fishing spot open and access to nets. We could have actual fireplaces for houses, only burn logs and could bank up several to burn overnight; you would rest better and heal faster in a warm house. maybe bring water barrels inside to prevent them freezing. An extreme idea - barns; the size of a great house, bring animals inside for winter.

The worst thing about winter is it is terrible for newcomers who spawn then, many beginner quests are nearly impossible in winter.

One of the updates around the introduction of winter actually shares a winter farming strategy. Don't know if it's been changed, but noone ever talks about it.

Winter is fine and its presence is natural. Nothing stops because of it - it merely adds more content. Miners will mine, farmers will farm, hunters will hunt, ... and pseudo-PVPers will whine as they whine about palis are in their way, too far to get noobs to kill, etc.
