Spare the trees of RNG!!

please. PLEASEEEE give us back the old tree growing system. 7 trees and 2 bushes now. and only 1 is above q 10. 2 hours of wait and time to gather resources for a tree that's not worth anything. I wouldn't even build my house with such inferior lumber for fear it would fall down. please gods of RNG. Spare the trees your wrath.

I thought this thread would be about how trees just randomly get stunted for no reason ;). The quality raising and lowering doesn't seem all that much different than last world though, just with the 3 qualities now.

the q you inspect at planting is the final q. it used to be that it raised as the tree grew.

Truly, the random stunting is worse than the quality gamble. They both suck though.
Come back two hours earlier.

I thought it still did, you just got to see the final q from the time you plant it. I was pretty sure I read other people saying that if you harvest the earlier stages it isn't that quality yet. If that's true, it's actually easier to manage trees now because you have the option to chopping a crappy tree down right away instead of waiting for it to fully grow before finding out it's crap.

I'm having no issues raising tree quality. The stunting is a real bitch though, even with Druidic Rite. I'm really hoping druid cloak helps that in some way, but I know I'm being naive.

I'll add to it that I don't like how bushes are better source of quality woodblocks than trees. Simply because bushes grow much faster, provide seeds even before they are mature and don't get stunted (or maybe I'm lucky and mine didn't)

Inspect your herb table. What quality is it? What q pots, soil, and water have you been trying with? Like others have said, it is essentially the same system.
