Mycology

Postby hazzor » Sun Nov 15, 2015 10:13 am

some stuff about mushrooms was mentioned briefly in jorbs stream last night, mainly the psychadelic kind, but I made the joke that we should be able to make plump helmet wine, then from that I thought that actually, it'd be really cool to be able to cultivate certain kinds of mushrooms.

It would make a cool use for the storage space of mirkwood logs and stumps, and then you could use mirkwood blocks and some rope/string to build a more effective solution which I guess you'd just have to keep damp with some water or something along those lines. I could imagine it being similar in some ways to cheese production in that some could be grown in caves, some in cellars and so on.

I don't really have any idea how you'd "seed" new mushrooms, obviously spores are a thing but it doesn't really make sense to have a spore item because it's not really something you can hold.

just a very basic idea that I had, I'd like to hear some opinions or suggestions.
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

Mushrooms have been suggested before. It's still a good idea. I like the new use for murkwood logs. :)

yeah I've seen it talked about but there's nothing in search apart from a few drug topics, and it'd be cool to talk about the actual farming side of it rather than the use of the product.

hmm and straw. I worked at a mushroom place when I was a teen. They got horse droppings and straw and something to use to grow the mushrooms

Yeah I have seen hay bales that've been left out for too long (especially when it rains a lot) with a load of mushrooms popping out of them.

I heartily agree with farming shrooms in some way.

I demand edible fungi!
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.
