Animals needing water

Postby dantheman540 » Mon Jan 04, 2016 1:59 am

I just went to refill the water for my chicken coops, and it occurred to me... why do chickens need water but all the other tameable animals don't? Would it not be an idea to need to have a second trough in the pens with water in? (and a 3rd bar when you inspect animal 'Thirst level')

I think the better solution is that chicken coops shouldn't require water.
All the quality stuff is complicated enough without adding even more complexity.

Its a video game, I am sure we can sacrifice some realism to make the game more enjoyable.

Probably should be careful what you ask for on this one, or they will add salt blocks and the ability to fill a trough with water also. Given that slop is already usable in a bucket I doubt it would be complicated. Regardless, animals are hard enough already to grind Q on (takes forever, too many variables) so even more complexity would be added torture. Guess that means they will add it.

Your right, adding water would make the quality grind a nightmare... it just seems inconsistent. Should either be removed from chicken coops, or added to other species, but left out of quality calculations. i.e. it is needed to keep the animals alive, but not factored into breeding quality. Maybe higher quality water would last longer?

The farmers in this game have enough to do with out adding water for the animals. It takes all I can do now to keep them in food and I only have 14 cows ,5 sheep and 3 pigs, where last world I had almost 5x that many animals and it was easy to to feed them. I Only had a 10x20 carrot field then now I have a 10x10 beet field and 2 of carrots and fixing to have to make more fields

I primarily use pumpkins to fill my troughs. I have a large pumpkin field that feeds 5 cows (2of which are pregnant) 5 sheep and 2 pigs with ease. I realise that's less animals, but its currently a piece of cake to keep them fed. just add the pumpkins to a barrel of swill, and 1 full barrel will fill half the food bar of 1 trough (1000 units).

Not sure what this has to do with anything? This was not a topic about firebrands?

It was a counter to my point.

If we could sacrifice some realism to make the game more enjoyable, then firebrands wouldn't exist.
