River Systems and Crossings

So, with the map gen creating a lot more interconnected rivers I was wondering what we're going to do about wagons. Wagon travel is going to become nigh-useless if we can't cross rivers. Judging by the sample we've seen so far, wagon travel is going to be veeeery tedious. So are we going to be getting rafts or bridges anytime soon?

Natural bridges of shallow water hopefully, just let carts be able to be pulled through it.

Wagons can cross shallow water, so they only need to make sure that all rivers have at least one shallow ford.

I think they've said that bridges arent possible currently. But rafts would be nice,

A reasonable amount of fords may exist:

also make possible to build a sort of gate at a bridge or toll :P

I don't see why bridges wouldn't work, couldn't you just place one endpiece on each side like a wall cornerpost and then extend a bridge between them?

Probably because hitboxes are still 2d.

I dont see why they couldnt try tweaking hitboxes so special type of 2d hitbox could be boated through.

I'm sure he could also just make rivers at a lower layer than everything else, but loftar's actual reason is probably something more complex?
