player-made quests

player-made quests

as an addition to the basic starter quests, people could make their own, share them publicly or privately (perhaps something similar to hearth secrets, or tabs for world, village, kin and personal quests). these could range from simple fun, to bounty hunts, story quests, personal or village to-do lists, ...

they could also serve as more in depth tutorials about certain aspects of the game, that jorb & loftar don't have the time/energy to devise, by some guide creators from the forum for example. these could receive a mod-approved tag, or gain +1's so players know they are "safe".

i feel this would be much more in line with our player-driven world than hard-coded quests.

Krikke was the master of player quests ... :(

But they are good fun for everyone, well maybe not for someone on the end of a bounty hunt, lol, and I would welcome them back whoever came up with some good ideas.

Maybe but I prefer hard-coded ones for teaching the game.

well you wouldn't have to do them, it's meant more for newbies looking for info on how to do more advanced things than picking branches, without having to plow through the forums and wiki. it's going to take the devs months before they add more quests, and even then they're not gonna be spectacular or plentiful.

apart from tutorials i think we have some great creative minds in our player base that could come up with some very interesting quests. :)

I am enthusiastic about the idea, but we can't deny the reality that pvp is the only kind of player interaction the devs seem to be concerned with. Feasting in groups, family bonds, multiple-character heritage, kingdoms, large-scale group projects, improved trade mechanics, hard-coded law systems for villages: all that is secondary at most. Even a +1 mod tag wouldn't work because so many players distrust them. And there's the issue of only 3-4 active mods having to review countless uploaded user-made quests, many of which of ICA-quality, and probably more than half in Russian and other languages they can't understand.
But I'm totally for the idea. Optional user modifications are always a positive thing in games.

I think that what is to be known as quest in game currently is not suited for usage by player content. This system is good for tutorial and maybe even player tutorial (though, I do not think that is much better than just having player tutorial in forum/wikipedia). Current what is quest is just text in the screen.

I think player quests should be allowing for rewards. Like a bartering stand players can be building that trades for tasks instead of items as a currency.

This is being very interesting feature, but I think probably hard for programming.

the quest system would need a big upgrade yeah (but it does anyway), quest rewards should have been a thing from the start but they would be definitely useful for this (it's not a bounty hunt without a bounty ;)), although we would have to think of a way it can't be abused for long-distance trading, vaulting and stuff.

@ven
i suppose you're right. i would love all those things, lol.
