Gilding is flawed

Postby DDDsDD999 » Thu May 05, 2016 9:51 pm

Why gilding sux:

1. High tier clothes just giving a better chance to not fuck up feels like complete shit. It feels unrewarding and terrible just gaming for the chance to not fuck up.

2. You need a huge spreadsheet of all the items just to figure out what the fuck to do. In fact, it was the very first thing we did when the system was implemented, besides complaining about it.

3. Clothing feels really ambiguous, and it is difficult to really tell what bonuses someone gets from their clothes. This isn't really a problem with fighters since everyone just wears armour, but if this system was ever implemented with armour, things would most likely be confusing as hell.

4. Gilding a piece of clothing feels like I'm being punished because if I want to upgrade my gilds or something I'd need an entire new set of clothes and go through the same broken slot shit, even if my actual clothing didn't get a quality upgrade.

5. System promotes SPAMMING of clothes, with a shit-load just being left to rot or put on alts.

6. Lack of rare gilding items was really disappointing. All the gilding items are just checks on what quality your crops are with no significant cost. This isn't necessarily bad, but it'd be nice to have rare gild items that at least keep up with high quality gild items so newer players can have some competition with clothing, or a new trade good.

---

What I want to have happen:

Clothes should have a set amount of slots. Higher tier clothes may have more, lower tier less. You can put gilds on slots freely, no RNG with breaking slots or anything. Matching attributes between clothes and gilds would increase the stat effects of gild items. Quality of clothing increases the effect of gilds put on it, just not as much as attribute matching. Gild values would need to be adjusted obviously.

Gilds can be removed from the clothing, but the clothing would have to be repaired in order to re-gild it, the quality of the repairing materials affecting how much is needed to repair.

There should be a number of gilds that are rarely obtained, like ever-glowing embers.

Could also have q add more slots under this system... Just a thought, but that increase would be the same no matter the item, the base slots could just be better for better items and so on.... or something like this.

I wanted to make the exact same post. If the gilding system has to stay this is a much less crappy version of it.

Please elaborate your opinion. Instead of name calling, you shitposter.

This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

I have to agree with OP: while I see the reasoning and potential behing the latest patch, it has "this system is a stub" written all over it.
+1 to suggested changes and/or pretty much anything developing and diversifying current gilding system.
